My Donation to The Alzheimer’s Assoc. Benefit Auction
Maverix Studios is hosting this event on Saturday the 29th. It’s yet another worthy benefit art auction where the animation community here in the Bay Area is coming together and donating art for this one-time auction. Art from folks at Pixar Animation Studios as well as others from across the U.S. and perhaps abroad, once all the donations arrive, will be displayed on our walls the night of the gala. Links to images of art arriving so far can be found here and here. Here’s my donation:

This sculpture was one that I did in 1994 for the real-time motion capture character “Moxy” on Cartoon Network.
I’ll also be auctioning off a framed print of “The Jungle Girl on Watch” piece. Hope you can make it!
Jungle Girl digital painting
A new piece that I worked on in recent weeks – off and on approximately a total
of 16 hours. I have a progression posted on the Drawing Board forum as well as on Conceptart.org and with helpful suggestions along the way, I finished it with a feeling of satisfaction. Hope you like it.
Adventure in FX Make Up
I had a shorter lived career from the mid 1980s to early 1990s
prior to animation and it involved sculpture, effects make up
and stop motion puppet making. I still sculpt to this day. I find it rather
therapeutic. An example of FX make up or ‘prosthetic’ make up is
this alien creature Sami I created from a design by Garret Sheldrew.
The character was designed for a short Mid 90s film written, directed & edited by
Erica Jordan entitled “The Link”.
These photos show part of the application on the actor and final
make up as it appeared in the film. We start with an early
Garret Sheldrew watercolor.
The ‘sculpture page’ on my website contains more of this
type of work. You’ll find a link to it in the ‘About’ section or in
the blog roll to the right. I hope you’ll check in once in a while.
I plan on posting some quicktime movies of a few make up
applications.
